In this one-on-one mentorship, you'll work with Dorielle for FOUR 1-hour sessions (via ZOOM) on whatever you need to get yourself to the next level of your art career. The mentorship includes an in-depth pre-assessment questionnaire for Dorielle to see where you are and what you need to work on, a suggested reading list, and homework to get you out of any muck you're in and get you kicking ass in your practice. NO SUBJECT WILL BE OFF LIMITS. Areas of focus will include (but are certainly not limited to):

-Critiques of personal work
-How to cultivate a social media following
-Shifting your mindset around earning money as an artist (HINT: it's inextricably linked to self worth)
-Art theory
-Professional practices
-Studio safety
-How to ship work (and build crates)
-How to build your own frames
-Photographing/scanning artwork
-Managing financials (taxes, art accounts, etc.)
-Creative thinking and practices
-How to believe in yourself when no one else does
-How to get over your fear, self-doubt, and excuses
-How to write about your work and get clear about what it is you're doing
-Affective grant writing
-Getting awards
-Building your CV
-Building a website (do not pay someone to do this)
-Becoming vertically integrated as an artist
-Making and releasing prints
-Gaining (and utilizing) press
-Using rejection as fuel
-Cultivating your voice and making powerful and concise work
-Taking risks and experimenting in your work
-Pricing and selling your work
-How to work with galleries OR how to represent yourself without galleries
-Marketing yourself
-Learning how to talk about your work (to anyone)
-Setting boundaries, routine and ritual around your practice
-Tools for self-discipline and pacing yourself for longevity of your career
-How to get pumped and inspired and how to work when you feel neither
-How to light a fire in your heart and under your ass to be bold and steadfast in your practice
-Deepening the relationship you have with your work so that no external situation can discourage you

Dorielle has been a professional artist for 12 years and has made a great living from her work for the last 5 years. She has exhibited her works internationally and has been widely reviewed in art publications such as Juxtapoz Magazine, Hi-Fructose Magazine, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, Art LTD. etc. In 2015, she was awarded the $10,000 William and Dorothy Yeck award by LACMA's Franklin Sirmans for "work that visually responds to work in the 21st Century."
